Class Features:

DOMAIN: STRENGTH

Momentum:
Many of the rogue’s powers function only when the rogue has momentum.
You gain momentum by hitting an enemy with an attack.
You lose momentum when you are hit by an attack.
The default is that you can use momentum powers without losing momentum, but a few powers specify that you must spend your momentum to use them. You don’t have to use attacks that require momentum against the foe you hit to gain that momentum.
Momentum powers that do not require you to spend your momentum are generally classified as interrupt actions. You can only use one interrupt action a round, which keeps your momentum powers from dominating the battle.

Sneak Attack:
Once per round when you make a rogue melee weapon attack against an enemy engaged with one or more of your allies, you can deal extra damage if your attack hits.

Trap Sense:
Even rogues whose backgrounds don’t have anything to do with noticing, avoiding, or disarming traps have a unique knack for dealing with traps.
If a rogue’s skill check involving a trap is a natural even failure, the rogue can reroll the skill check once. If a trap’s attack roll against a rogue is a natural odd roll, the rogue can force the trap to reroll the attack once.

Bio:

Here is a tavern, on the outside it looks like a standard tavern, but below the surface it is the

entrance to a busy hub for the underworld of crime. This is where the thief’s guild, The Dark

Crows, is based out of. In the guild master’s office is a new crater, straight down through the

tavern. The master had just dismissed a group of new hopefuls to an assignment when it

happened. At first he thought they were under attack as a fireball came through the ceiling, when

a person stood up from the crater in pain, a glow flickering on their body, the slight trace of

wings that was fading. Then the glow started shining brighter and brighter, and then cut out

completely, a small blast of air and energy pushed out from them. The fires got blown out and

for a few moments all sound had been silenced. Then the person then collapsed. The master

sighed and then started to go about the work needed to get the hole fixed. Calling in the cleric to

get the new arrival taken care of.

The Cleric had brought the man to the infirmary and had gotten them placed in a bed. The

man did not wake up for a couple days, during that time his form changed, the glow fading in

and out, some people had claimed to see light faintly being pulled from his body. The cleric had

been wiping some sweat from the man’s face when his eyes snapped open and grabbed the

cleric’s wrist in a panic.

“Where am I?” said the man, “Who are you?”

The cleric turned to another person in the room and told them to go fetch the guild

master. He then turned back to the man on the bed and calmly said, “I suggest you let go of me

before we have to have you tied down.”

The man complied and started giving quick panicked looks around the room.

“Who are you?” asked the cleric.

The man went to answer, and then his face became twisted with confusion, and then more panic.

“I don’t know,” he said.

“How do you not know? Everyone knows their name, well after the fall you had….” The cleric

said puzzled.

“Fall? I fell? Why can’t I remember that? Why can’t I remember my name?” The man said full

of terror.

“Well you had better remember something, or at least remember a way to make money to fix that

hole you made,” said the Guildmaster as he entered the room. “How does he look Ian?”

“He’s stable right now, some bumps, bruises, and what looks like a case of amnesia,” said Ian

the cleric.

“So you’re saying he’s completely wiped? A clean slate?” The Guildmaster asked.

“Exactly,” replied Ian.

“That makes things interesting….” The Guildmaster pondered.

The man watched their interaction, frantically looking around the room. Everything was a mess

to him, he couldn’t think straight and he felt powerless.

“Alright, first things first. He needs a name,” said the Guildmaster.

“My vote is for wrecking ball, or burning man. What do you think Nyx?” said Ian.

“Those aren’t names idiot, you’re just upset that you have to do your job,” said Guildmaster

Nyx. “How about something simple, yet fits his new role?”

“My new role? What do you mean?” asked the man.

“You see, Maverick, you have to pay us back for that hole you made. The best way to do that

since it seems you don’t have the ability to do anything right now, is to work for us now. You’ll

get some training and then you’ll start making money,” said Nyx.

“Maverick?” asked Ian.

“That’s his name now, but that’s only his name in here. Outside of this hideout he’ll have come

up with a different name,” said Nyx.

“What kind of name should I use outside?” said Maverick.

Nyx sighed, and then said “I don’t know, I’m not here to hold your hand. I can give you access

to some resources once you pass some tests and prove yourself. You should be able to think for

yourself and make decisions on your own.”

“That’s how everyone here gets treated, we’re all adults here, well mostly. We do have some

kids who are pick pockets, not that we make them do it. They lose their families and we give

them a place to stay. Some of them see what we do and try and join up,” said Ian

“Alright, I see. When should I start the training?” said Maverick.

“As soon as you physically can,” said Nyx. Who then threw a punch towards Maverick.

Maverick had then felt a surge of strength for a moment as he began to glow and what appeared

to be a ring above his head started flickering. His hand shot up and caught the punch, but as soon

as he did, he felt weak again and the glow faded.

“That….. was interesting to say the least, you can probably start training in the next couple of

days,” said Nyx. “Guess you aren’t going to be as useless as we thought.”

The next few weeks had Maverick going through the basics of being a thief. Learning basic

combat, running through drills, learning how to get around the town. His trainer, Grey, had really

been pushing him to improve in the smallest amount of time. Maverick discovered that in the

heat of combat he can channel a power that take harder hits or move out of the way faster, but he

couldn’t keep it up after he got hit. When time came to learn the advance techniques as well as a

stable move that all members had, something strange had happened.

“Alright it’s time for you to learn what it means to be a Dark Crow. It’s time to learn how to

become one with the shadows and walk through them,” said Grey.

“What do you mean? How do you do that?” said Maverick.

“It’s simple, you embrace them, let them welcome you, then once you can do that,” said Grey as

they stepped into a shadow nearby and disappeared.

Maverick began searching around the room, trying to find where they went. Not a trace of them

could be seen anywhere, when suddenly Maverick felt cold steel on his neck.

“Then you pass right through,” said Grey as they removed the blade and put it back in its sheath.

“Now it’s turn to try”

Maverick braced himself. Walking over to the nearest shadow, he began to focus. Maverick

could feel the shadows trying to embrace him, but it started to feel like they were confused by his

presence, like he didn’t belong there. He couldn’t find a way to pass through it, but at the same

time there was a pull towards the light, there was this path that seemed to open up. He stepped

towards it.

“What are you doing? You haven’t gone into the shadow yet,” said Grey

Maverick ignored them and continued walking down the path. It became clearer and clearer until

there was a little flash of light and he was gone.

“This kid just keeps weirder and weirder,” said Grey

The view of the world changed for Maverick, it seemed to distort slightly, things slowed down a

bit. Everything sounded like he was underwater. He took a step towards Grey and his footsteps

seemed to echo within this world. Maverick then touched Greys shoulder and everything flashed

back to normal.

“That’s a bit different than normal. You seem to do with light what everyone else does with the

shadow. That might make you stick out a bit you know?” Said Grey.

There was a knock on the door, Ian walked in and looked towards Maverick. “Boss has got a job

for you, better get to his office,” said Ian.

Maverick moved towards the door and made his way to the Boss’s office. Once he got there, he

was about to knock.

“Come on in Maverick,” said Nyx.

“What is it you need me to do?” said Maverick.

“I have a job here, it’s pretty simple. All you have to do is break into this place and take this

specific gem. No guards, not even a dog. Think you can do it?” Explained Nyx.

“I can do that, when does it start?” said Maverick.

“Tonight, get to work,” said Nyx.

Maverick quickly left to go prepare, and headed out into the night.
